Introduction ~
Here I stand at a dichotomous crossroads with many choices whittled down to just two.
On the one hand, I
am a staunch advocate for the civil and human rights of minority
populations with primary interests in offering support to the
incarcerated, post-incarcerated, and addicted populations.
My vision is to convert a majority of US prison facilities into
residential treatment opportunities for those in need and are willing to
change.
Additionally, I am aggressively pursuing the criminalization of private
corporate ownership of America's prison industrial complex.
On the other hand, I have a unique affinity towards the field of mental health and counseling those who currently suffer from mental illness with a specialty in substance use disorders. I lean toward the humanistic Rogerian approach with hints of positive psychology and a form of mind-hacking best characterized as an equal mix of Skinner's schedules of reinforcement shaping behavioral change with the goal of flipping Freud's three-quarters of the subconscious iceberg upside down to becoming a fully mindful and consciously aware human being.
Then, if I had a third hand, it would be entirely consumed with my other tendency towards all things technology. Having previously had a career in computer technologies, I've come to realize that this passion can only be preserved and sustained by removing it from my entire center of focus. Hence, I find myself shying away from making technology a so-called full-time job in favor of preserving this love by keeping it as a hobby which I can pick up and put down freely and willingly without the demanding constraints required by the career-minded.
As it stands, my passion for technology offers a comforting support with the knowledge that it could be deployed at a moments notice if the financial circumstances required and for that I'm blessed and eternally grateful to have the mind and fortitude to be able to exercise my free will in any direction I have choose.
